Twilight Review and More!
Okay, so first of all, over the past few weeks I’ve been reading Stephenie Meyer’sTwilight series. Yes, the young adult fantasy/romance novel about vampires. Yes, seriously. And let me tell you, it’s intense. After hearing so much about the books (it’s been on the New York Times Best-Sellers List for 30 consecutive weeks, and 5.5 million copies of the first novel have been sold in the United States alone) and seeing a teaser trailer for the upcoming film adaptation of it, I’d decided to finally give in and see what the hype was all about. I have to admit, I wasn’t disappointed; it may not be a literary masterpiece, but Stephenie Meyer sure can tell a story. The protagonist is relatable to teens and Meyer’s characters are dynamic and complex. Meyer’s highly anticipated fourth and final intallment of the series, Breaking Dawn, was released on August 4, 2008, selling 1.3 million its first day. However, fans and critics alike have given Breaking Dawn mixed reviews. As much as I enjoyed Meyer’s Twilight series, what I’ve seen and heard of Twilight the film leaves me with low expectations.
Okay, now that I’m done geeking out, I was browsing IMDb.com earlier checking out Pineapple Express and this ad appeared at the bottom of the page:

I thought it was worth mentioning in my blog.
I want to watch Pineapple Express. I’m not big into stoner movies, but I’ve heard good reviews about it and I love Seth Rogen and James Franco. I recently read an article on IMDb.com that a Superbad/Pineapple Expresscrossover sequel will be in the works in the near future. I’m not sure how that’s going to work, but it’s an interesting idea. I’d love to see a Superbadsequel.
16 days and counting until my two-week trip to Japan and Hong Kong! I feel so unprepared, though. I have no idea what I’m bringing, and I don’t think we’ve planned out any activities for our 6-day stay in Tokyo.
Until next time,
Betty Machete
